Aerobed® History

When you use an Aerobed airbed, you get more than just an air mattress. Aerobed products are a better night's sleep, the life of the party, and the most comfortable way to turn any space into a guest room.

We are the leading innovator of premium, stylish, technologically advanced airbeds. We continually strive to provide unique, quality products that deliver superior convenience, comfort, durability, and style, for both indoor and outdoor use.

Aerobed airbeds have been helping conscientious hosts and cramped apartment residents reclaim their space for over 25 years. The company began in 1992 with a patent on an innovative way to quickly inflate and deflate air mattresses.

Extensive consumer research and product development brought about the original Aerobed airbed. Consumers had the option to dream anywhere with something more than just an air mattress. With an Aerobed mattress, people could enjoy a comfortable, adjustable extra bed. The mattress fully inflated in less than 60 seconds with the exclusive built-in pump. Users had the option of adjusting the bed's firmness with its premium-quality construction. When they awoke refreshed, its patented, quick-release valve deflated the bed in just 15 seconds.

The new century brought with it new innovations for Aerobed airbeds. In 2001, the Raised Aerobed mattress offered the comfort and convenience of the original Aerobed product, but with the height of a regular bed. A year later, Aerobed brought even more convenience to our comfort with the New & Improved Aerobed bed. It inflated 30% faster and 20% firmer than the original and the recessed pump design made it even more versatile. The Whoosh® valve offered quick, hassle-free deflation so the Aerobed mattress could be stored in a matter of seconds.

The innovations never stopped. Today's Aerobed airbeds include features such as handheld comfort controls that allow users to pick their own firmness settings, or special air coil systems that support the entire back, and our outdoor airbeds are made tough for the most serious outdoor enthusiasts.
